▼ Marketing Executive 

As part of Marketing and Communications you will support the team to meet objectives to deliver growth in both corporate and membership arms of the business. The post holder will be responsible for assisting with the creation and delivery of effective marketing campaigns to increase sales and profits by helping to retain existing customers and attract new audiences and clients.

Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager you will support with the application of marketing plans and tactical activity to meet ambitious commercial income and membership retention and recruitment targets, delivered on time and within budget. Your day to day work will focus on communicating to potential and existing clients and members via traditional and digital marketing channels. You will need to work creatively to meet targets and objectives, adopting an integrated approach to your work and working to add value to increase ‘spend’ across CIEH, alongside colleagues and deliver a better service to Members and Clients.

Permanent / Full time

£25,000 per annum

▼ Public Affairs Manager  

The Public Affairs Manager will lead on the development and delivery of CIEH’s public affairs and public relations activity in support of our strategic objectives. The key objective is to position CIEH as the voice of the profession and raise awareness of environmental health as the practice of improving and protecting people’s health, safety and wellbeing.

Primarily focused on Westminster, Whitehall and the media, the post-holder will also work closely with colleagues managing government and media relations in the devolved regions. This role is pivotal in providing the support and delivery of local public affairs and public relations activities, the post-holder will work the volunteer network where appropriate. 

Reporting to the Executive Director for Membership, Policy and External Affairs, this role has a close working relationship with the Chief Executive, policy officers as well as colleagues across the organisation. The post holder will work with members of CIEH’s governance structure – from Board members to regional volunteers – to expand the breadth and depth of our influence.

There will be a particularly close working relationship with the policy team, helping to translate key policy positions into public affairs and public relations-focused actions. The post holder, using strong stakeholder and project management skills, will deliver cohesive and complementary messaging and relevant campaigns to enhance not only individual activity but the overall reputation of the organisation.

▼ Chief Examiner - Consultant 

CIEH is going through a period of change and as part of this we are now looking to appoint a number or roles to support the activity within the Awarding Body. Currently, we offer a route for environmental health professionals seeking to become Officers and provision for work-based individuals working in an environmental health capacity, i.e. food safety and control. These are exciting times for CIEH, and as such we will be exploring and developing complementary learning pathways to support the profession either to fulfil role obligations or to guide career progression. 

The Examination Team is composed of Examiners, Moderators, Markers and Writers who are experienced in marking and moderation and possess practical industry experience that enables them to see the value of learning to achieve professional qualifications within the context of environmental health.

Part of a highly experienced team, you must be familiar with and capable of assessment development, marking and moderation and feedback together with other assessment related processes and, when required, will contribute to the continual improvement and development of CIEH’s robust marking and moderation processes.

You need to be able to work under pressure within a given fixed timescale and be conscious of others’ involvement and dependence on the role. This requires experience of working as an individual within a dispersed team, while being able to blend and actively contribute to the wider discussion when appropriate. You should be impartial and open to new ideas and ways of working. Importantly, you must be able to peer review, provide and receive constructive feedback, always behaving professionally and cohesively to constantly maintain the value and focus with the learner. All members of the Examining Team are expected to hold CIEH membership.

The Chief Examiner will participate as an active member of the Learning and Qualification Advisory Group, you will provide a periodic overview of the activity of the awarding body to the rest of the group, and advise on the strategy associated with qualifications and professional development. Alongside this, you will ensure that professional qualifications and learning activities meet the requirements of the associated specification and maintain acceptable threshold standards year on year. ▼ Expressions of Interest: Assessment Writer  

CIEH is seeking an Assessment Writer to compose an exam paper and marking scheme for the Professional Examinations for students en route to qualification as Environmental Health Officers.

The Assessment Writer will be paid a day rate of £300, to a maximum of 4 days. This will include a half day Question Paper Evaluation Committee meeting in London.

Copies of previous exam papers and a guidance document are available on request.
