Ticks are important to human and animal health because of the role they play in the transmission of diseases. Knowledge of their biology, ecology and the pathogens they transmit is essential for developing appropriate strategies that can help to reduce exposure to ticks and protect against tick-borne diseases. This document, produced by the CIEH National Pest Advisory Panel, aims to provide information for pest control technicians, environmental health practitioners and others who are required to respond to queries regarding ticks and tick-borne diseases or those responsible for managing areas where ticks may be present.
